A species confined to northern Balkans, extending up to Banat mountains in Romania and in southern Hungary.Reports of this species from different regions of the country, other than Banat and Oltenia are probably the result of confusions with some varieties of Centaurea jacea L. Beusnita valley, very frequent in grasslands, in the area of Cheile Nerei - Beusnita National Park, Anina Mountains, Caras-Severin county, August 2013. dr.
